My second (and last … most likely) winter in Athens. Seasons in every place have their own feeling, and Athens is no different. Winter, to me, embodies the spirit of this town and this geographical space. Winter here is not frigid nor a bright white. It is dark, it is wet, it is rain as much as it is snow. It does not quite make sense … just like this town does not quite make sense. I don’t mean this in a good or a bad way, but never have I lived in a place quite so curious. Athens is simultaneously very comfortable and unsettling to an almost nauseating degree …

I walk on West State Street almost every day. Night falls early these days, and the air looks almost as wet as it feels. I’ve encountered a few music producers as of late who tend to embody how this street feels to me at times. Main Sequence, from Portland, OR and currently doing graduate work at MIT as well as Blockhead from NYC are worth checking out for a good little brain drift.
