So, for those of you who haven’t checked out Flattr, I recommend you give it a shot. It’s a website that lets you give just a little bit (some change, a few dollars, etc) to work that speaks to you, and not just photography. The site is about spreading and supporting ideas. In return you can also make your own content and ideas eligible for micro donations. I’ve had a few Flattr buttons up for a few months, I haven’t really put them out there because I’m having a better time randomly Flattr’ing other work, and I’m still trying to figure out how to best embrace social media without becoming my own advertising machine, but I was pretty excited when Luceo decided to throw a nice chunk of change towards my Loop Derivatives series. Them buying me a few rolls of film aside, it’s good to see this group consistently finding ways to support industry peers. Let’s just say that I’ll give them a big thumbs up for community building. Their student project award is another good example of this.
