Sorry, another self-promo post. 2009 Has been the year of me submitting things. Some things stick, some don’t, but I’ve learned something from every submission and am confident I have a better sense of what’s worth it and what’s not. Luckily in grad school I made a lot of projects. A lot of projects that are different from eachother. Depending on where I am submitting, I will send forth parts of almost anything on my website, since it is pretty much all recent.
IPA (International Photography Awards) just announced their 2009 winners. I’m happy to have picked up a 1st place and a few HM’s in the non-pro category.
In addition, Chicago Heights’ Union Street Gallery decided that a few of my “Rural Progressives” images would fit into their “Assume Nothing” juried show coming up. I’m just happy my pictures are doing more than sitting on my hard drive.
On another note, I’m leaving on Sunday for nearly a month of exploring places I haven’t been before. It’s been like three years (!!) since I last got out of the country. I’m not going for work. I’ll have my Leica and 2 lenses but this isn’t a photo trip. It’s my last excursion before the real “real world” life begins. And if you read about La Tomatina in Bunol, Spain next, that’s where I’ll be starting. You might be able to follow me on my Dopplr if 1) I get internet access and 2) I care to update it but both things are only a maybe at this point.
