I went to the East Coast and back in a really short time. I stayed in a beautifully decorated house in the suburbs of D.C. owned by a couple who moved here from Russia. Their house was full of art, mostly from the Ukraine, but some pieces from elsewhere. I had to be at conferences all day however, in the U.S.A. Today building, where I got my portfolio reviewed and a man from national geographic told me politely that I had a lot of work to do but that he also liked some of what he saw. Was truly inspired by the multi-media work of the New York Times, like usual. A bunch of other things too, including a cop catching me in too much of a hurry trying to get home and searching me (just like old times, I can’t count how many times I have been pulled over/frisked/searched/patted down/interrogated) and not finding anything. Because I have nothing with me that I shouldn’t. Shit gets old. Anyways my friend Dinara hooked us up with the cool house to stay at, and Robin drove us with Chad in the car too.
Also, last week I took some portraits of a man who carves tree trunks into animals with a chainsaw on the side of a highway.
