After a mildly taxing two days of driving (the first worst than the last) and a stop in Dayton, OH to see my grandparents I’m back in my hometown. Naperville, the #2 place in the U.S.A. to raise a kid according to Money Magazine. People here like to talk about that.
I still think there’s nothing out of the ordinary about this place. There are too many bars that are the same, too many restaurants that are the same, a good amount of parks and forest preserves (probably my favorite part)…and….a lot of shopping…and yeah. It’s all flat here.
On my trip I used my new old Busch Pressman 4×5 with some expired polaroid type 55 film that it came with. I took very little care of the negatives, or exposing the photos for that matter. I kinda just wanted to see if this thing would work, and it does…and for that I am grateful.
I’m pretty bitter about the Outer Banks getting really good surf right now, right after I leave. It’s not like I get the chance to paddle out much…cmon mother nature. I know it’s kick ass surf because the surf reports say it’s good, and that almost never happens. especially on the east coast. when you can still go out almost naked and not worry about wrapping yourself in neoprene because of frigid winter waters. when you can get that friendly reminder that you are not the only one in the water as a jellyfish knocks into your leg.

When the surf report says it is just above poor I can have a fun day. When it says it’s ok, that’s a great day. When the surf report actually calls it a good day to go surfing, you know that shit is perfect. Perfect.
And here I am in Naperville. Going through photos of the past 6 weeks, trying to get it organized and make sure these cheesy family on the beach pictures look good for my aunt. (Cheesy or not you gotta have photos of the family).
I just blew about a grand buying a new clutch for my car. I can’t help but ponder the possibilities of where that money could have gone had I been forced to spend it….all I know is that my passport would be
getting some much needed exercise…perhaps back to Mexico to see hurricane Dean hit the mainland…..the people here are my sisters and my parents, myself. i have a photo of my brother that my ghetto scanning method cannot handle, so it will have to wait a few weeks till I get to school……………………..
