the prairie landscape is never going to lose its beauty to me. It’s simultaneously depressing and inspiring, but I can’t really figure out why I will take this same picture 1000 times in 1000 different flat places. Maybe it’s the lack of everything except what should be there. Maybe it’s because I spend my days taking photos of people and their stories, and this needs no explanation… no caption. It is a 450 pixel high cutout of a scene anyone can drive by if they know where to go. … but if I were to turn around and take a picture from where I was standing I would see cookie cutter houses and cul-de-sacs and half dirt/half grass yards where more structures will soon be…so this picture is only 50% truth.
